The runners have certainly been going great guns over the festive period, but before getting on to that, this is a good time of year to stop and say thank you.

The team at Neil Mulholland Racing work really hard all year round and show great care and dedication to the horses in their care.  There is a huge support team that provides various services to the yard, all of which contribute to any success on the racecourse.  The yard is blessed with some great owners and the services of some excellent riders.  Thanks to everyone for all you did in 2019 and with your continued support we will hopefully have a successful 2020!

We hit the post a few times in the two weeks prior to Christmas, with a number of second-place finishes and runners that might have won if things had gone their way, but the post-Christmas period got off to a flyer when Runasimi River won early on Boxing Day afternoon!

Despite a couple of 2nd places, there were no more winners that day but the yard was back in the winners' enclosure on the 28th, when Full of Surprises won impressively.  We knew she was a nice filly, but she was facing experienced rivals who had already achieved a decent level of form, so a debut win was great to see.

The third winner was a real surprise.  Kansas City Chief has been well-beaten on several occasions in recent times, so expectations were not high when he went to Taunton on the 30th.  He raced wide of the field and he probably ended up picking up some better ground out there.  The lack of company might also have relaxed him making him feel like he was not really in a race and he ended up passing the post in front!

The yard maintained a "winner every two days" strike rate yesterday, when at Cheltenham, our race club horse, Doing Fine earned compensation for his void race run at Sandown with an excellent win.  More on that in another post tomorrow!
