The big news this week is the announcement of the first races in the jumps programme in July!

National hunt racing will restart at Southwell on Wednesday 1st July with the 2nd fixture at Uttoxeter on Monday 6th July, one of four meetings that week.  It is great to have fixtures to focus on and the yard is starting to ramp up with the promise of some jumps racing.  We have not been without racing though as the flat programme is going strong including the Royal Ascot meeting this week.

A few runners have left Conkwell to head to the racecourse for runs on the flat, but with all the horses having had a long break, there is nothing like a run to really sharpen them up and most will improve for having had a race.

If all goes to plan, then one of the first runners that the yard will have over the jumps will be our race club horse, Doing Fine, who we hope will head to Uttoxeter on the 6th July to contest the Summer Cup, a listed 3 mile 2 furlong chase.  Obviously, he needs to get there in one piece and we all know that plans often need to be changed, but fingers crossed he gets there in good form.

The race club is open to new members at a cost of £150 per month.  If you are interested in finding out more and having an ownership interest in Doing Fine for his next run, then more information is on the race club page here.
