Another Three Winners And A Big Race 2nd

The fine run of form for the stable continued last week when Last Enchantment won at Wolverhampton.  She was largely disregarded in the morning market with an early price of 25-1 but Neil had seen enough in her previous runs to be fairly confident that she should run well.  He was interviewed on Sky Sports Racing just before the race where he said as much, and Last Enchantment's price came right down to 12-1 at the off and there were obviously some happy viewers post-race!  Jockey Ben Curtis is going well at the moment and whilst she was pushed along a couple of furlongs out, he was able to persuade Last Enchantment to make a strong challenge in the final furlong to sweep to the front down the outside and land a three-quarters of a length victory for her owners the Equi ex Incertis Partners.

The yard had a second-place finish on Tuesday at Exeter when the BG Racing owned Mount Oliver showed that he had come on for his recent racecourse reappearance with a good run, finishing well clear of the third behind what looked to be a well-handicapped winner.

The horses continued to run well and Mike Burbidge's Master Burbidge also made the places at Wolverhampton on Friday before a great set of results on Saturday.  The opener at Doncaster delivered a winner when Bootlegger ridden by Harry Reed won the handicap hurdle.  Neil was hopeful of a good run and it materialised.  Harry made headway to track the leaders two out and when he asked Bootlegger to go on, he found a willing partner who kept on well to win by five lengths at the line.  Congratulations to The Risk Takers Partnership on a fine winner! 

Harry did not have long to celebrate the win as he was due to ride in the last at Cheltenham, which is hardly round the corner from Doncaster.  Our jockeys certainly clock up some miles in pursuit of rides and winners!

There was a break before the yard's next runner which was Fingerontheswitch in the feature handicap at Doncaster, the Sky Bet Handicap Chase.  After a recent win at Kempton, Millie Wonnacott was back on board and she gave the horse another good ride, tracking the leaders and taking over three fences from home.  She was challenged two out by OK Corral a Nicky Henderson trained runner ridden by top amateur jockey Derek O'Connor and the two of them kept on gamely, battling all the way to the line.  Unfortunately for us, it was OK Corral who came out on top winning by a half-length with the rest of the field fourteen lengths further back.  A great run and very close to another big race success.

Compensation came quickly though in the form of Neachells Bridge at Uttoxeter.  Robbie Dunne was there to ride Neachells Bridge who was settled towards the rear but came through to dispute the lead at the second-last and survived a peck on landing at the last to run on well for a half-length win, his second career victory and his first over fences.

Having already recorded two winners and a second, the day was almost rounded off in style by the yard's final runner, The Twisler, who ran in the last at Cheltenham with Harry Reed having successfully made the journey down to take the ride.  "The Twis" was running a cracker and was bang in contention at the last, before the ground and the Cheltenham hill got the better of him in the last 100 yards and he dropped from 3rd to 5th.

We are still waiting for some drier ground, but the results have been good even if the ground has been bad, so let's hope more winners are just around the corner.
