Without our hardworking staff in every yard racing would not be able to happen, the staff's love and care for the horsesis clear and they can work long hours doing the job in all weathers, it is a lifestyle and it takes dedication and love to do this job, which has incredible highs and also incredible lows at times. Betfair's Racing staff week aims to highlight the staff and also give something back to the staff in the industry.

Betfair are running the Racing Staff Week Cup at Newton Abbot on friday the 5th July it will be the last race of the day taking place over 1m4f, and will raise money for Racing Welfare a charity that is there for the staff offering help and support to those that need it, we have first hand experience when Georgie broke her leg and ankle and damaged her ligaments, they stepped in after the NHS couldnt offer her any more physio and she was barely able to walk let alone ride, Racing Welfare funded all of her rehab at Oaksey House enabling her to get back up on her feet, alongside helping with injuries, they help with money problems, problems with mental health and also offer bursarys for training to staff, please if you have 5 mins to spare take a look at their web page, racingwelfare.com

James Paget will be riding in the race for us. James has worked for us for 6 years and has proved to be a great asset to the team, his love of horses is clear and since joining us he has gone from strength to strength both in his riding abilty and his knowledge of horse care, he has been involved with Druids Nephew and he rides The Young Master and No Hidden Charges everyday, James hasn't had the easiest of starts in life but racing has kept him grounded and given him focus and drive and he is very passionate about the horses and the sport. Giving James the chance to ride in this race will give him more experience and also give him something back. James aims to raise at least £350 for racing welfare, his just Giving Page is www.justgiving.com/james-paget1
